Harold Hill, Musician, TN, USA - Harold comes from a place "way back in the hills" in Virginia,
bordering on Kentucky and Tennessee, where the industry, when he was growing
up, was coal mining and...more coal mining. Harold says, "I was among
the first generation in our family to be born with indoor plumbing".
In that small-town environment, Harold was always aware that he wanted to move away to a more exciting life when he grew up and music was his ticket out. As a teen he sang in church, at school productions and even had a starring role in a local ongoing musical production every summer.
When Harold moved away as a young adult to pursuit his dreams, it was to go "on the road" as an entertainer, sometimes having to support himself with odd jobs. He even did a stint for a few years as a DJ at a country music station in Virginia. Having always been connected to the business of music and entertainment, Harold moved to Nashville in 1984. While continuing to work on the road for another few years, he met his wife Linda at a show where he was performing and married her a few years later. When they started talking about having a family, Harold knew it was time to leave traveling as an entertainer behind for a while. Although he could have set about seeking another career, instead he went seeking an opportunity.
Harold shares what happened next, "The buzz word back in 1998 was INTERNET and while my wife worked and I did a few menial jobs, I also sought to build a business online. I had a BIG failure first time out. Even though I became a top producer, the network marketing company I joined, went under. Unethical management, among other reasons lead to the company's downfall. But two important things happened in that "failing forward" process: I learned that the network marketing concept WAS viable online, if I could find the RIGHT company. And by way of the business that failed, I met my DHS Club sponsor (and now my good friend) Jim Henslin. As the other business was going under, he emailed me and told me about this great idea he had discovered called "The DHS Club". For me and my family, it turned out that Jim did us a BIG favor."
From the beginning, Harold felt that there was something special about the DHS Club, but he had no idea how much of a real "ground floor" opportunity it was when he started. His wife Linda was skeptical about his investment of hours when she saw his first check for $10, but she believed in him and in his vision and allowed him to work without an immediate return on his investment. Then as she met those with whom he had been working, including Dick & Pat Burke and their Sponsor Jim Henslin, she became supportive every step of the way.
As Harold tells it, "My sponsor Jim had suggested I call the company and get the scoop on what the company was about and if there were people I could trust in positions of responsibility. I made several calls and each time it just so happened that the company's president, Dick Burke, answered the phone. I thought I was calling a company office with employees. Dick said, "I was just passing by the phone and thought I would answer it." Which was true. What I came to know later in my discussions with him on the phone was that this well-oiled machine that I was risking my future on, had one moving part - Dick Burke!
Since then, I have had the good fortune of developing my relationship with this man with a great idea and obvious good character. He has since shown himself to be a man who, in a few words, is simply about honesty, integrity, leadership, commitment and faith. It was icing on the cake that we shared the view that any power we may have in our lives comes from "Up Above". And being Christian brothers has been a part of our relationship from the beginning and continues perhaps, even more powerfully and prayerfully - today.
Dick convinced me that I should come to the first conference in Orlando, even though I thought I couldn't afford to go. But he was persistent in helping me understand that if I wanted to create a long-term residual income with our business, I couldn't afford NOT to attend. So, after praying about it, some things happened that led me to get there. That first remarkable experience (including the shared faith in Christian beliefs among many of those attending) included meeting a new VIP in my organization - Robbie Bracco, who became the first VIP to qualify as an Executive Director in my organization."
When asked about his accomplishments, Harold shared the following, "I worked hard and kept progressing, moving upward with promotions and I arrived at the Executive Director position almost 18 months from the day I started promoting the DHS Club. Since then we have had so many great experiences and paid for President's Club trips. First was a trip to San Francisco to attend a Conference. After the conference, we had an Executive Director day for fun and it was then that I really got to know about Dick Burke's vision for the future as we walked through the streets to many of San Francisco's attractions, talking at length about his plans for DHS Club success. (By the way, everything he mentioned to me that day as his goals for our Club has come to be a reality in one shape or another). Then right after sunset I had a memorable dinner with Dick and Pat, overlooking a moonlit San Francisco Bay as we toasted to my new achievement and our future together.
Then came our HQ trip with all the food, fun and leadership training that goes with it. Watching the sun set from the white sands of the Gulf Coast beach, being accommodated in luxury condos on the beach and all of us getting to know Dick Burke as a leader of leaders. A little more time brought our first annual DHS Club Convention. Getting to know the great DHS Club staff in person. Getting to meet downline, upline, crossline VIPs and their families. And then there was our first leadership luxury cruise, Man, oh man! There's nothing like being "out to sea" for a few relaxing days at a time with other DHS Club leaders. There have also been 2 more cruises since - we've been to the Bahamas, to Mexico, and even once through the Pacific via Catalina Island.
Since then we have been able to travel Montana and fish the blue ribbon trout waters there, have cafe latte and beignets at the Cafe Dumonde in New Orleans, stand under the Archway in St. Louis, eat Cheasapeake Bay crabs in Baltimore, travel to Germany to see Linda's grandmother, wave to a cactus in Phoenix, shake hands with Mickey Mouse in Orlando and ride a roller coaster in Las Vegas.
We work hard, but we can play hard too. And sometimes we just have to get away for some real R&R and the DHS Club has provided a perfect location for hard working President's Club Executive Directors to go an relax and get away from it all, at their Duck's Nest Retreat in the scenic mountains of east Tennessee. Duck's Nest - way up on the mountain - a unique place for reflecting on success, planning one's future and/or just getting away from it all. Peace. No sounds of civilization at all up there, tucked away in the Blue Ridge. From the top of the mountain behind the main lodge, you can see for miles into several states. Almost twenty acres of beauty, accentuated with two small lakes, teeming with hungry bass. My kind of place."
Besides being able to travel and spend time with his family, Harold has also been able to pursue a lifelong dream. He explains, "I have been allowed some artistic goal-related victories and accomplishments as well, from my roots as a musician/singer/songwriter. As a result of my DHS Club success, I set about recording my first CD after all these years in 2002, financing it with my own capital on my own label". Harold's CD included a song that he wrote that went on to win "Western Swing Song Of The Year" last year from the Academy Of Western Artists. It also includes a song that quickly became a favorite of DHS Club VIPs after Harold sang it at a DHS Club Convention - "Dig Another Well" (a spiritual tribute to faith and persistence).
As much as Harold has enjoyed the many "perks" of being an Executive Director, he also enjoys his role as a Team Coach and helping others achieve their victories along the way. He shares his feelings on this "teamwork" aspect of the business, "We all share a common journey and I remember how excited I was when we realized certain benchmarks along the way. Things like sponsoring your first member, then your first VIP, getting promoted to Team Leader, then Team Captain, on to Bronze, Silver, Gold, Ruby, Emerald, Diamond and then all that goes with the Executive Director position and the President's Club."
But it hasn't always been easy for Harold, "Yes, we have had some bumps in the road along the way. We have even had setbacks. Every business does. Mixed in with the elation of seeing a plan come together there have been occasional disappointments. We have overcome the challenges of being a startup network business, the flux and changes in methods on the internet and the treachery of those who would do us harm. But look at us...after 7 years. We're still standing strong and now we're cranking it up to a whole new level with the ClubAdvantage Business Building System!".
When asked about his goals, Harold responded, "On the personal side, I always see my role as father and husband to be at the top of the list in ongoing achievement, as I always want to be the best I can be for these two people that ground my world and make my life worth living each minute of the day. My DHS Club success has afforded me the TIME most parents only dream of to be at home, setting my own working hours, making family time as it is wanted or needed by any of us in our house. The money I earn allows me to schedule my life around my family, rather than be conditioned to be part of the norm, the "rat race", as it were. Our success has allowed my wife the freedom to leave her full time job a couple of years ago. I once read that the desired result of all we do, no matter what it is, for most of us, is to be happy at home. We are, and I consider that a big part of my accomplishment. I am always aware that TIME + MONEY = FREEDOM, and here, hundreds of thousands of dollars into my DHS Club career, I know that God has blessed me well in leading me to where I am with this fine organization. And, again, I am just getting started!
My ongoing goal is to lead by example. I have it in writing where I can see it every day, that I will do my best to help others - those with vision and willingness - to move on into the lifestyle that we all know is at the place in the road we want to go if we apply ourselves. On a specific level, I have a written goal to personally carry our DHS Club message and opportunity not only to more of the USA, but into other countries as well, with a mental picture held of the luxury travel that entails. That goal even expands to the future of eventually incorporating our success and prosperity message into a traveling "show", so to speak - with music, entertainment AND our opportunity message combined. And I have a goal to have my family enjoy the benefits of devoting myself and my time to that which we as a family love, even as we continue the journey to financial freedom. My daughter will know the education and horizon expansion of traveling the world and developing her own dreams".
Asked what it takes to succeed as a DHS Club VIP, Harold shared, "YOU NEED TO BE PERSISTENT AND CONSISTENT. Follow the training with faith, working closely with those upline from you who have proven themselves accountable by their role achievement under the new ClubAdvantage Business Building System. This is a REAL business, and you can make REAL money. Money may not be your only objective, but I assure you it is a good "measuring stick", and it will help you to get to whatever goals you may set for yourself that are not financial - in a truly healthy state of mind.
For those without written goals, I submit to you that is not likely to happen unless you write it down, look at it regularly and visualize the results and benefits of such freedom often. We have the proven vehicle in our hands that anyone can use to obtain that goal. Our job as VIPs, really, is to show others it can be done.
As in the book The Prayer Of Jabez, I pray to God daily that He will enlarge my territory so that I may be more in His service. That does not necessarily mean through organized religion, but through my own life in words and deeds. Another ongoing goal I have is to continue to grow as a person to honor God's blessings and His grace and from where they come. I seek always to give back and to pay forward.
My thanks to all the team members who continue to make this success journey we are on together such a joy. A special thanks also to Robbie and Phil Bracco for leading the way, for inspiring us and for being our friends. And to every VIP I have met, and those I have yet to meet, I hope to see you at a DHS Club convention or conference soon.
A toast to new beginnings and to our success!"
Eddy Wynen - Assistant Project Manager, Lint, Belgium - Eddy Wynen & his wife, Marité, and their grandson, Farouk, live in Lint, Belgium, which is a small village in the triangle of Hove, Kontich, and Lier, South of Antwerp. Eddy has had a busy job as the Assistant Project Manager at a company that specializes in building equipment and maintenance for industrial waste furnaces.
In 2003, Eddy & his wife bought a fruit plantation in Chile. The plantation produced avocados and lemons. Their goal was to create jobs for their children, Yarenlla and Rene, and their families who live in Chile.
Then in 2004, Eddy began to search for an online business opportunity. He says, "I started to look for an extra income to reduce the load on our family budget. An extra job away from home was out of the question, because my spouse and children were heavily opposed to me working outside the home, as I was already not at home much with my present job. While searching the Internet, I found information about the DHS Club. After researching everything, I became convinced that the DHS Club could give me the opportunity to create a great future for my family and myself, without a large financial risk."
Eddie became an Executive Director in January of 2008 and shares, "I achieved becoming an Executive Director by following the ‘Yellow Brick Road’ and with the help of my Team Coach, Gino Descamps. You cannot find any better training anywhere that compares to the E-Business Institute in quality and value!"
"My future goals are to gain enough stars, step-by-step, to become a member of the Ambassador’s Club, while helping other VIPs on my team to accomplish their goals. Together Everyone Achieves More!"
Jim Henslin - Writer, Riga, Latvia - Jim Henslin was born and raised in a small town in Minnesota. Jim says, “I took my first paid job, a newspaper route, at 9 years of age. I won a state contest for the most new subscriptions, with the prize a paid trip to the state fair in St. Paul. I helped put myself through college by selling encyclopedias door to door. During college, I also worked construction jobs as a laborer, a gas station attendant, and as an expediter in an airplane factory.
Each experience, they say, contains a life lesson. From delivering newspapers in the dead of winter in northern Minnesota, where I froze my nose, I learned an important one: Go to a warm climate. Since then, I have lived in southern California, Florida, Mexico, and southern Spain. I have also lived in a few places that didn't match this lesson of life: Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, Nebraska, Oregon, and Latvia.”
Jim loves to travel. He shared, “In the past year, my wife and I have been able to travel to Armenia, the Bahamas, Estonia, Italy, Latvia, Spain, and Sweden, as well as to several U.S. states. Perhaps the most exotic places I have been to are jungle villages in India. The most beautiful man made site I have visited is the Sistine Chapel in Vatican City. Perhaps the most exotic meal I have eaten was with "His Holiness" (the actual title of the head of the Orthodox Church of Armenia) at his summer residence at the foot of Mt. Aararat. And the most exotic trip I have taken is a boat ride down the Mekong River in Cambodia, where I visited a floating village of Vietnamese. Quite memorable also is a horseback camping trip along the upper rim on the Oregon side of the Snake River of Hell's Canyon, which is deeper than the Grand Canyon.
Besides travel, which I find intriguing, especially the cultural contrasts, on the more active side, I enjoy fishing, kayaking, and hiking, while on the more contemplative side, I enjoy good books, provocative ideas, stimulating conversations, good wine, and quiet moments with my wife.
Life is rich--and short--and it should be enjoyed. Part of my enjoyment is to meet new challenges. I quickly tire of the routine and easily grow bored with the banalities of "small talk." Life also has a spiritual dimension, which, too, should be explored and enjoyed. It, too, presents challenges to be met, for if we are created beings, what does God want of you?”
When asked about his accomplishments, Jim shared the following: “I joined the DHS Club because it presented a challenge - to learn the Internet, which was new at that time, and to use online capacities to build an extensive organization. This challenge was met when I became the Club's first Executive Director and the first member of the President's Club. Among my current challenges is how to use the income from the Club to help the most needy people in the most significant ways. At the moment, this is directed to widows, orphans, and others in poverty in India, people whom I have had the privilege to visit. It is humbling to see how their lives are being changed, how malnourished and mistreated children are being cared for in loving, nourishing environments. One of my fondest memories is listening to children of slaves (bonded laborers, who do backbreaking work in quarries, generation after generation, & who live in abject poverty and have no education) as they recited their school lessons and sang songs in one of the free schools that my income from the DHS Club supports.
The keys to success in the DHS Club, as I see them, are three: diligence, perseverance, and prayer.”
When asked about his goals, Jim said, “By its very nature, the future is uncertain. The one thing we can all count on is death. Now that's a sobering thought. In the meantime, before that inevitable and usually dreaded knock that closes life's door, in the midst of the uncertainty that we might call ‘the present unfolding into the future’, my goal is to meet whatever new challenges arise and to continue life mostly as it is. I like it where I find myself at this latter stage of life, and I want to pursue and relish more of it: travel, good books and stimulating conversations, the opportunity to change people's lives, quiet time for meditation, and, of course, those precious moments of mutual understanding with my wife; time when not even a word need be said for deep meaning to be exchanged."
Gino Descamps, Truck Driver, Hulste, Belgium - "Gino Descamps is from Hulste, Belgium, a small town (pop. 2,500) situated about 100 kilometers west of Brussels. Gino is married to his wife, Kristien and they one daughter, Kimberly and a granddaughter. Before going full time with his DHS Club business, Gino had been an international truck driver, putting in long hours as he crisscrossed the long winding roads of Europe. During those long hours of driving, Gino dreamed of a way to spend more time at home with his family.
In May, 2002, during a weekend free from driving, Gino was surfing the Internet and came upon the DHS Club site. Gino had been involved in a network marketing business in the past and immediately saw the differences between the DHS Club's marketing plan and the network marketing plan he had been involved with. The potential got him very excited and he became a VIP that weekend.
Since that time, Gino has worked tirelessly on his DHS Club business, building a strong organization of sales directors, managers, representatives and Members. In July of 2004, one of Gino's goals became a reality when he attended a DHS Club convention in Tampa Florida. It was his first trip to the USA and he was able to finally meet his upline Executive Director, Harold Hill. Gino said, "A strong friendship was born which resulted in my achievement of being promoted to the level of Diamond Director in November, 2004. At the convention, CEO Dick Burke made a promise to me, to visit Belgium and hold a training Conference when I reached the next level. So I returned to Belgium to work hard to reach the Executive Director level, which I did in February, 2005. Mr. Burke kept his promise and came to Belgium in March, 2005."
After qualifying as an Executive Director for three consecutive months, Gino and Kristien were invited to come to Englewood, FL for their Executive Director HQ trip. That was the first time that Kristien had ever been to the USA and they loved being escorted by Dick and Pat Burke aboard the company's boat "ClubShop I", to their gulf front condo and to dinner each night. Following their HQ trip, they attended the 2005 Convention and returned home determined to host the first European Convention in 2006.
After returning home, the Descamps were able to make another dream come true - Kristien was able to leave her day job to spend more time with Gino and their granddaughter.
In May of 2006, Gino hosted the first DHS Club European Convention and was able to welcome VIPs from different countries in Europe and introduce them to two new Executive Directors in his organization. Just following the Convention, Gino had another one of his dreams become a reality - driving his own Porsche (shown in the picture above)!
Gino tells us that the DHS Club has already changed his life for the better, "We are walking the walk, step by step, along the "yellow brick road' and towards a great future with the DHS Club."
Hensley Basilio - Civil Engineer, Curacao, Netherlands Antilles - Hensley Basilio was born on the beautiful island of Curacao in the Netherlands Antilles. The sunny island of Curacao is located in the Caribbean, near the coast of Venezuela. Hensley & his wife, Mirayca, have been blessed with two sons, Brian and Ray-David.
After graduating from high school in Curacao, Hensley continued his studies at the University of the Netherlands Antilles (U.N.A.) in Curacao where he obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil and Architecture engineering. He has worked for the island government of Curacao as a Civil Engineer since graduating from U.N.A. in 1988.
Hensley said, "I have always dreamed of making money on the Internet and of becoming financially free. A colleague introduced me to the DHS Club in December 2006. I became a free Associate Member and then upgraded to a VIP right away. When Dick Burke visited Curacao in February 2007 for a DHS conference, I was very motivated at the end of that conference. Since that time, I have worked hard on my DHSC business, together with my team, building a huge organization and reaching the Executive Director role within 11 months."
"I am most impressed with the E-Business Institute training courses. Why?? Because you can complete them any time, at your own pace and in your own home. I have learned so very much from the courses. The way to become successful in this business is to keep the E-business Institute Courses as the most important tool. Then, with the help of God, with faith, perseverance, a positive attitude, and determination, you will succeed. You have to set new goals and try to reach them. Your attitude will determine your altitude."
Hensley continued to share, "My future goals are to encourage my VIP’s to grow as I have, to become a 6 star Ambassador’s Club Chief Executive Director, and to become financially free."
Fabrizio Perotti, Ski Instructor, Torino, Italy - Fabrizio is a 39 year old Ski Instructor with 3 children.
His work experience background also includes the fur trade and coffee
industry.
Fabrizio says, "My personal choices have always been determined by the constant desire of freedom. I understood that, for a normal person, freedom means having free time together with the financial means to enjoy it."
He became involved in Network Marketing for the first time in 1999. Fabrizio understood that Network Marketing was the means to achieve his personal goal of financial freedom. Unfortunately, his first Network Marketing experience was not a good one, but his faith in Network Marketing was strong and he believed in the system. He says, "I had just chosen to become involved with the wrong company." So, from September 2000 to January 2001, Fabrizio spent five months researching to select a company that would satisfy all of his personal criteria and that represented to him "the best opportunity in the world". Fabrizio says, "I had the time to do it, so why not? This hard work lead me to upgrade to VIP with the DHS Club on January 31, 2001. "
In February 2001, he achieved the Team Captain level followed by Bronze Manager in April, Silver Manager in May, Ruby Director in June, Emerald Director in August, and Executive Director in September. By January 2002, Fabrizio had achieved 3 Star Executive Director.
Fabrizio says, "Since ClubBucks started, my enthusiasm literally exploded again, so we started to reorganize our wonderful Italian Team!" They have set up weekly meetings in Turin called, "Coordinamento Nazionale ClubBucks", which, when translated means "National Coordination ClubBucks". VIP Members, Merchant Affiliates, Members and guests are invited. He says:
"The results have been really overwhelming, starting now to expand ClubBucks even in France and, very soon, in Spain.
I simply shared with every single human being I met my enthusiasm and awareness of having a reliable, serious, and perfectly organized company behind me, offering a really unique and innovative project. Then, the easy part has been following step by step all of the training, information, and planning provided by the DHS Club H.Q. In this way, I've also been able to provide promptly and constantly my Team with the same useful instruments, translated into our language; making it available to everybody in order to start creating duplication and new leaders that could help me seriously. For every VIP Member who showed a real interest in our program, I've always tried to do everything I could in order to be physically available to assist them."
When asked about his goals, Fabrizio said, "I want to keep on developing my personal strategy, based of course on DHSC guidelines, to make of the ClubBucks Program the standard in retail commerce in Italy and help thousands of families to forget about their financial troubles."
Mark South - Insurance Representative , Englewood, FL - "I met Club President & CEO, Dick Burke, when he visited my insurance agency. Dick shared his vision for what the DHS Club would be some day. I became a VIP as soon as the DHS Club officially opened. After a few years, I was able to take time off from the insurance industry (due to his DHS Club income), we picked out a new motorhome and closed on the sale of our house. After one year of traveling we are now back "home" in Englewood, Florida, ready to build our Business even bigger so we can get a bigger RV :-)"
Charles Ramos - Cultural Services, Bourges, France - Charles Ramos lives in Bourges, France. In 1979, at the age of 22, Charles went to France to study courses in Internal Architecture – design and models. He studied the fine arts at the National School of Applied Arts. He entered the profession in 1983 and says his first employer extravagantly exploited his drawings and he was underpaid for his designs.
During this time, Charles met his wife and started a family and by 1988 they had 3 children. Although Charles has a natural love of people and human relationships, he admits to being very shy. So he decided to pursue a different occupation in cultural services and managed a bookbinding workshop.
In order to make more money with a home based business, Charles began to research income opportunities online. Once he discovered the DHS Club, he knew he had found the right one. Charles says, “I love the fact that the DHS Club is free to join; however, as a VIP, you are privy to a variety of promotional and marketing materials to be used in conjunction with any additional advertising efforts. The support you receive and the high quality level and contents of the E-Business Institute Courses excite me and this encourages me to study. It is a whole new experience in Managed Organizational Marketing (M.O.M.)”
To help himself become the first DHS Club Executive Director in France, Charles further shared, “I have been translating the E-business Institute and the web site to assist the French speaking people - to give them the opportunity to help themselves in their new DHS Club business. I also assist my organization by presenting training conference sessions at least one day per week, but most often twice per week. I always welcome the new VIPs in my organization in my own conference room session. It helps to give new VIPs a quick start."
“My goals are to listen to my VIPs and to encourage them to grow as I have. I would also like to do the same for the Spanish speaking members, because I have a sister living in the Canary Islands! I say, Let’s go for it!!”
Tres bien Charles!
Scott Secord, Retired USAF, CA, USA - "I have VIPs in my organization all over the world and I think DHSC is the finest opportunity available today. It is both available and reachable to anyone, anywhere, regardless of their current income. To succeed, all you need is to have the desire and determination to take action and the ability to stick to it. The ClubAdvantage Success System is fabulous!
The e-Business Institute courses are a work of art. The training program is the best I have ever seen and there is nothing like them out there today. We have the best company. We have it all!"
Dindo Barriga, Unemployed Computer Programmer, Cebu, Phillipines - "I used to work as a computer programmer during the 90's, but I lost my job in 1997. In a country where the typical salary is less than
$100 per month, life in the Philippines can be very hard even with both couples working full time jobs. Imagine what my family had to go through when I was jobless for 3 years! During those times, I kept browsing the Internet, looking for income and job opportunities, when one day I found the DHS Club. For months, I was an inactive VIP and I was just about to quit, when my Team Coach convinced me that the DHS Club was the best opportunity that could be found and he that he would help me to make it work. So I started reading the training material and I worked really hard day and night. At first, my progress was slow, but when I shared the knowledge I was gaining with my VIPs, they started duplicating me. After a few months my organization started to grow and then one day in late 2001, I became the first Executive Director from the Philippines. My DHS Club income has allowed my family and I to buy a new car, begin traveling and move into a brand new custom built house, located in one of the city's upper middle income subdivisions. And our their 3 girls are studying in an exclusive all-girls school. All these things were beyond my wildest dreams a few years ago, but now they have become a reality."
Paula Griffin, Finance Coordinator, CT, USA - "Paula was born and raised in Bridgeport, Connecticut. She currently lives
in Stratford with her significant other, Jon. She and Jon have a total
of 4 children. Paula's two sons are 28 & 25 years old; her daughter
is 23 and Jon's daughter is 16. Paula is also the proud grandparent of
a 9 year old granddaughter and a 4 year old grandson.
After graduating from High School, Paula went to work as a billing clerk in a curtain factory. By by the age of 20, she had been promoted to the manager of that department and ran a 5 person office. She started her family soon after and, once her daughter was born, she became a stay-at-home mom.
Paula said, "When my children where still very young I became a single parent and took a job as a waitress. I worked long hours to meet the needs of keeping a home and raising a family. I quickly learned that working for someone else was not what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. I knew I had to find another way. That is when I started looking on the internet for an opportunity to work from home."
The first online company that Paula became involved with ended up having financial trouble, so she dropped out. But she was thankful for the experience because two very important things happened to her as a result. "I was able to see that I could be successful online once I found the right company and through the experience, I met Harold Hill, my DHSC sponsor.
Harold introduced me to the DHS Club by sending me an email telling me I had to check out this opportunity. I was a little hesitant because of my first experience, but since it was Harold, I figured there was no harm in looking. He told me I could join for free and just look. He also told me not to upgrade, but to just stay a free member and see what happens. Well, shortly after joining, I started receiving emails from other members, welcoming me to the Club. Wow! This was great! All these people taking the time to send me a note. I thought, 'What a great team of friendly people all willing to help'. I upgraded the next day!"
When asked about her DHS Club experience, Paula shared the following:
"Since I became a VIP, there have been so many accomplishments in my life. Not just in business, but also personally. Getting on a plane for the first time and flying from Connecticut to San Francisco - alone, to meet my sponsor and attend my first DHSC convention was a personal growth experience that started a chain reaction."
Paula worked steadily at building her DHS Club business and reached the Emerald Director level and then she suffered some setbacks in her personal life and business. But she continued to work and go to training Conferences and Conventions. And now she has rebuilt her business and is seeing steady, solid growth every month.
When we asked Paula about what has changed in her business, she said, "I have re-qualifying level by level and on August 29, 2006 reached the level of Executive Director. I have been able to do this by learning about and using the new ClubAdvantage Business Building System, setting goals and staying focused. I do not focus on the money. My focus is to help as many other VIPs as I can to build a successful business of their own and reach their goals and dreams.
The Personal Planner is a part of my daily operation. I look at it continuously to see what needs to be done next. I constantly update what I have completed and add to my "To Do" list. I also check to see what my next monthly goals are and determine if I am on track to achieve my goals.
I keep a copy of my written goals on my desk at all times. I have taped them to my monitor. I also keep a copy of the compensation plan on my desk along with a list of all active VIPs and what it will take for each to reach their next promotion. I continue to learn all that I can so I can represent our opportunity and our Club to the best of my ability."
We asked Paula about her goals and she said, "Up until July 2006, I was employed as a finance coordinator for a Home Care agency. One of my goals had always been leaving my day J.O.B. to work full time doing what I love - building my DHSC business and it's exciting to know that because of the DHS Club, I have been able to achieve this goal! I also have a future, written goal of reaching Ambassadors Club. Besides this goal, I have a goal to move down South and buy my own home and to own a new truck. I would like to become actively involved in supporting and assisting at a shelter for women who are victims of domestic violence, as well.
"I look forward to seeing all who will be attending the conferences and convention this year as I know this will be a year we will never forget!" Paula loves going to the Conventions each year and reuniting with her Sponsor, DHS Club staff, and her fellow VIPs. Her attendance at one Convention was literally a life changing experience for her. A few years ago, she made a commitment to the Christian faith during a Sunday morning worship service that followed the Convention.
She shares how that event has changed her life, "Each day I thank the Lord for all that I have now. For the opportunity I have with the DHS Club and for the friends I have come to know so well through this business opportunity. I also pray each day that I will do whatever is needed to help others become successful; not only in my downline, but anyone who will benefit from my help."
We had a wonderful time welcoming Paula for her Executive Director HQ trip, and look forward to watching her reach Ambassador's Club!"

Manuela Verdickt, Interior Decorator, Antwerp, Belgium - "Manuela lives in Wuustwezel, a small village in Antwerp, Belgium, near the Dutch border. She is 45 years old and married to Walter. She calls him, "My best companion and friend."
Manuela is an interior decorator and loves her job. "Architecture and Design are a substantial part of my life. I can't imagine a way of living without Art or without beautiful things that keep people amazed."
For years, Manuela worked for different companies but she didn't get the satisfaction she was looking for. “I wanted to be independent and to start my own interior business. But it is not that easy to give up a financial secure situation.” So she was looking for a home-based business that she could combine with her interior practice. Manuela recalls, ”Surfing on the internet an ad of Gino Descamps about the DHS Club caught and held my attention. I joined as an Associate Member and after a couple of days, I upgraded to VIP. I didn't understand the system thoroughly but I was certainly convinced of the great opportunity that was offered to me.”
Manuela remembers starting her DHS Club Business, “For me it was quite an adventure. I didn’t have any experience, whatsoever, with internet marketing. I started the training in the E-Business Institute but the ClubAdvantage Business Building System was not rolled out yet as it is now.” “To make a long story short, headstrong as I am, I had quite some difficulties working with my upline, but we worked it out and now we are working together as a successful team. And even more, I appreciate him for his motivation and his persistence.”
“This is a great thing about our business. If you want to be successful you have to "grow", you have to "learn", you have to improve yourself. And this gives you a wonderful, good feeling. As Dick Burke says, 'Success is a journey, not a destination'. And I couldn't agree more.”
Manuela shares her feelings about The DHS Club, “I enjoy my DHS business because it gives me the opportunity to realize my dreams. Moreover, I am now in a situation to help others to reach that same level (and higher!) and to have success with their own businesses. Working in a team where each one helps another is a great motivator. In fact, you never walk alone.” “Walter and I do love traveling and as soon as the coast is clear, we pack and we are gone. We both fell in love with the same place: Venice. Nothing is more enchanting than strolling and exploring in the web of alleys and canals of this "floating" city. Definitively, we will be going back there!”
Hope you will put Florida on your list of places to travel Manuela! We think we will be seeing you here one day soon!"
Lorenzo Cicetti - Banking, Chiaravalle, Italy - Lorenzo Cicetti is a 31 years old bank employee from Chiaravalle, AN, Italy.
When asked about his accomplishment with the DHS Club, Lorenzo told us that he started thinking about this testimonial some months ago, as he knew that he would become an Executive Director. "I really think becoming an Executive Director is simple, but not easy if you want to do it fast and you have a full time, 10 hours a day job. But I did it, and so can you! Persistency, that’s the key of success!! Persist and you’ll succeed! Be persistent, it will pay off!!"
Lorenzo says he really loves this business, "I like to meet new friends, empower them and help them to be the best that they can be. What could be better?" He told us his next step is to help many people become Executive Directors and become financially free. Since he loves helping others, he plans to help bring out the best in people and develop life lasting friendships. "This is what I think success is really all about, it just cannot be enjoyed alone."
"The DHS Club is absolutely unique, really fantastic, the best decision I’ve made in my life after marrying my wonderful wife, Maiko."
Lorenzo would like to thank Dick Burke, Amedeo Stasi, and Giuseppe Francavilla for helping him to see his potential and the potential of running a DHS Club business. He would also like to thank the rest of the people on his team who trusted him and who he is confident will be his first stars.
In conclusion, Lorenzo said, "In the end, DHS is all about personal growth, improving yourself each and every day….the most wonderful thing is watching your friends growing personally (and of course financially) together with you! Enjoy the journey and follow the yellow brick road!"
Rens Van Houte - Technical Service, Gelderland, Netherlands - "Rens lives in Zutphen, Gelderland in the Netherlands and first found out about the DHS Club in October of 2004. He said, "I was surfing the Internet and I saw a message from a Gino Descamps about a business opportunity. I became an Associate Member and began to read everything Gino sent me. I thought 'Who is this guy? This is really something special!', so I called him and Gino explained me all about the DHS Club. That phone call with Gino is still `in my head` and I am very thankful to him that he gave me his precious time at that moment. I became a VIP that day and that was the best decision I made in my life!"
Since then, Rens has made steady progress in building a large member organization. He explains what has helped him to do so, "The E-Business Institute is really great! I've never seen anything like it before!". Rens also credits positive thinking for helping him to work through slow and difficult times. He shares, "There is another `thing` required to be successful. There should be that `voice in the back of your head` that says to you, every day again and again, 'You WILL be successful!'. I listen to that voice and there is nobody on the planet who can stop me from living and working for my dreams!! And I try to give on this `voice` to the rest of my Team. They know that I will be there for them".
Rens credits his Team Coach, Gino Descamps for leading the way for him to succeed. He shares, "He showed me how to lead by example. He is not only a great leader, but also a man with a great `human heart`. This is why he is so special to me, because he brings out the best in people. The things he did (and does) for the Netherlands and Belgium VIPs are really fantastic".
One of the things that Rens loves about his DHS Club business, is the team effort required to succeed. He says, "This is a people business with the best opportunity there is, for anyone who WANT to be successful. The people I work closely with have become good friends of mine. We share ideas on how to be more effective and together we follow the 'Yellow Brick Road'. I think it's possible for anybody to be an Executive Director in about 1 1/2 years, when they live for their dreams and give it 100%".
Rens also shares his goals for the future, "There is just one future goal. I want all of the great leaders in my organization to be in the Ambassador's Club with me and I know for sure they will get there! When they are successful, so am I".
Rens proves that "our attitudes determine our altitude". Keep flying high Rens and we look forward to your coming to visit us at DHS Club HQ as a new Executive Director!"
Salvo Arena - Entrepreneur Rome, Italy - Salvo Arena is a happily married man with twin children. He lives in Rome, Italy.
Salvo shared, "I believe that those who know me perceive me as a serious, hard working, and honest man and for that I am grateful. I always found my work to be pleasurable and gratifying, but I soon realized that economic permanence is a difficult goal to reach with the type of work I was doing. I realized that I could never be successful unless I was able to invest a lot of money into my business. I always thought to be "free" you need to be your own boss and be able to spend time with one's own family who are the most important people in one's life".
So Salvo searched on the Internet for companies that offered such an opportunity. Salvo said, “I started looking for something that could give me the real possibility of making a minimum investment without any risk. I immediately understood that when I found the DHS Club, I had found the opportunity that would really make me free in all the ways I desired. I joined as an Associate Member on January 21st, 2006.” He says when he found the DHS Club, “I asked my Team Coaches questions, and I watched as Members were placed into my organization, and I learned all I could about the Business Opportunity".
He upgraded to VIP on February 20th, 2006 and immediately realized the wisdom of the need to ‘Follow The Yellow Brick Road’. He says, “Thanks to my Team Coaches who always supported me with great consistency, commitment, and sincerity, I was determined to make their work easier by putting forth a lot of will and effort. In March, 2006, I qualified as a Team Captain; then Bronze Manager in September; Silver Manager in January, 2007; Gold Manager in February; Ruby Director in April; Emerald Director in May; and Diamond Director in July; and with the support of my Team Coaches and my own determination, I reached the honored role of Executive Director in September, 2007".
"I follow step by step the courses of the E-Business Institute without doing anything else, and then I give the example to my organization of everything I have learned. I had to make sacrifices and overcome problems, but with the help of my Team Coaches, who were always there to help and guide me, I never lost faith and belief in what I was doing. I gave the best of myself, and my commitment was always the biggest.”
Salvo concludes, “My future goal is to reach the Ambassador’s Club; to live serenely; to guarantee a real future for my children and family. I like, if I can, to help those people with financial difficulties. I am ambitious and I am sure I will be even more successful, because I trusted and believed in the DHS Club from the very beginning. And, now my future goal is to realize every little dream, I have in my heart”.
Wim Groot Zwaaftink - Retired, Overijssel, The Netherlands -Wim lives with his wife Margriet in a small village named Heeten, in the magnificent Salland-country in the middle of the Netherlands. He and Margriet have a daughter, a son and two granddaughters.
Margriet loves making music, tennis and motorcycling and Wim enjoys all kinds of sports, including ice-skating, road-skating, skiiing, motorcycling and tennis.
Due to Wim being able to retire by his 55th birthday and draw a pension income, he and Margriet have been able to travel together with their camper throughout Europe. Wim says, "From the moment we leave our home, we enjoy seeing the wide open spaces and the sky as we travel. My dream has been to have a bigger and better camper and I’m sure that with my DHS Club business, one day I will buy this camper!"
In April of 2005, Wim saw a DHS ad that Executive Director Rens van Houte had posted on the Internet. He joined the DHS Club, while still being involved with several kinds of MLM businesses. But after a few months of trying to work with all of them, he realized that the MLM's were not right for him. He shares his experience, "On the 28th of July, 2005 I made my decision!!! I stopped doing all other kinds of business and give all my energies just to my DHS Club business. I’m a very lucky guy that Rens kept communicating with me from April until the end of July, to try and convince me of the power of the DHS Club concept. On my way home after a visit to the Tour de France, Margriet and I made our decision TO GO FOR DHS!"
Wim credits the ClubAdvantage Training program for helping him to learn how to build his business and tries to improve on the skills that it teaches. He claims that the e-Business Institute training is his ”shop manual” and he refers back to it constantly to help train a new VIP or just to refresh his own memory. He also gives Rens van Houte, much credit for helping him to get started. He shares, "I have had the most fantastic support from Rens van Houte. He is truly the backbone of my business. He was the man who told me to 'Believe in your dream and the DHS Club concept will give you what you want'. With the help of Rens, I have now built a strong foundation and now I have a fine, growing organization. A lot of VIP’s in my organization are now my friends and it is very nice to work with them."
Wim's goal is to be a 6 star Executive Director by the end of 2009 and he shares, "I have found out what a great feeling it is to help other people find their dream and if I can do that every once in a while, I will feel as successful as any millionaire in the world."
Thouraya Shili - Professor of Physical Education and Sports, Tunis, Tunisia - She has been married for 21 years, and contributes her success to the support of her husband. She also has two wonderful children, ages 20 and 13. Thouraya enjoys "Do It Yourself" projects and painting.
When asked about her accomplishments, Thouraya shared that she is happy to be the first VIP from Tunisia to attain the role of Chief Director. Despite the trials of money transfers from Tunisia, Thouraya has been able to build a good reputation for the DHS Club in Tunisia. She has been able to develop a VIP team and has been able to find potential offline, local ClubShop Rewards Merchants.
Thouraya has shared with us that her success is not just a personal one. Her success has been influenced by a helpful up-line and a great team. She has also shared that the translations to French, along with the presentations and training has helped her to succeed.
When asked about future goals, Thouraya said "My ambitions are not confined to being an Executive Director, but I see far ...I will be in the Ambassadors Club and have the honor to do my best and set an example by providing the necessary support to all those who want to succeed. A big thank you to Mr Dick Burke and all the DHSC staff for your effort and your help to overcome difficulties and to develop the concept of DHS Club in Tunisia."
Benedict Landerwyn - Carpenter/Food Service, Ieper, West Vlaanderen, Belgium - Benedict was born in 1980 in Ypres, a city in Flanders, Belgium. During the First World War, Ypres was completely demolished, but after the war, the town was rebuilt with the main square, including the "Cloth Hall" and Town Hall, which were both rebuilt as close to the original designs as possible. Benedict now lives nearby in a small borough of Ypres, called Brielen.
Benedict graduated from Carpentry/woodworking School in 1997 and worked in that industry for two years. In 1999, he started a weekend job as a quality inspector in the food industry and during the week he has done many other jobs, to make ends meet.
Benedict recalls, “At a certain point I was working almost day and night. I realised that this was not the way I wanted to live and was in need of something different.”
So, since 2003, he has only worked weekends, doing two twelve hours shifts. As he needed to occupy himself with something else during the weekdays, he bought a computer, and learned how to use it and began searching for something to supplement the family income.
Benedict discovered the DHS Club business opportunity in 2004 and became a VIP in September of that year. He says, “Not one day has gone by without me doing something with the DHS Club. It has changed my vision of my future. I have learned to be patient, to be committed, to be persistent, and I have gained many new friends. Overall, I feel I have grown as a person.
Much of this I owe to my Team Coach Gino Descamps, who has always been there to guide me and to keep me on ‘the yellow brick road’. I want to advise everyone to work close with their team Coaches, as I have, as they are the only ones who can show you the path, keep you in the right direction and keep you in the right attitude. Since they know the way, why not follow in their footsteps?”
As you might expect, Benedict has set some goals for his future, “My goal in the near future is to work from home full-time, which I plan to do very, very soon. My next goal is to attend the USA Convention and actually, it is not just a goal - I will be there!”
Benedict shares some advice for other young people like himself, that are building a DHS Club business, “A tip that really works for me is to do what has to be done, even if at first you don’t get it (for example, like reading a positive thinking book!). Then, persist in doing it. I believe that when you believe in your dreams and persist to reach them, it is always rewarding. The DHS Club has certainly improved my life already and will continue in the years to come.”
Already, for a young man in his 20's, Benedict is learning that dreams do come true!
Charles Haras - Hospitality Management, Curacao, Netherlands Antilles - Charles was born in Curacao, Netherlands Antilles. He lived in Holland for 10 years and in the USA for 3 years. He studied Hospitality Management and worked as a bartender and banquet supervisor in Rotterdam & Schiedam. He also worked in several areas of the Food & Beverage services in Marco Island, Florida and as an assistant Restaurant Manager & assistant Executive Steward at the Hilton Atlanta Towers.
In 2002, Charles returned to Curacao where he set up a Cocktail bar. But, working long hours, late at night, took its toll. He wanted a job where he didn’t have to work night shifts and long hours. Charles worked in several other areas, including Tire Salesman and Liquor & Wine brand supervisor. He says these were great knowledgeable experiences, but he started to realize that he wanted to do something different where he could set his own hours and work towards a goal; a dream; his dream.
He began searching the Internet thinking, “There must be something that I can do at home to pursue personal and financial freedom.”
Charles found the DHS Club and subscribed as a member. He says he immediately realized that the DHS Club was something different when he began receiving personal emails from his network coach, Loraine Brouwn, who also lives in Curacao. He realized the DHS Club was not just another Internet business where promises are made, but nothing happens. On August 18, 2006 Charles upgraded to VIP.
Charles says, “I didn’t even own a computer at the time so I did all of the work from outside of my home.” He completed the first four Training Courses in one month and purchased his own computer after that. He says, “That was the best investment I ever made, besides the $49.95 VIP subscription fee!”
He said that he immediately continued the training and it was even better than he expected. He continuously kept in contact with and received help from Loraine and made an instant connection with his Chief Executive Director, Rens Van Houte who was very helpful and provided great guidance. Both Loraine and Rens motivated Charles from the beginning, which was something he had never before experienced. He said, “It made me realize that I wanted this opportunity to work and will go all of the way with it.”
Charles was further motivated after Dick & Pat Burke visited Curacao, in November 2006, fulfilling a promise Dick made that when Charles became a Team Leader and Loraine became a Team Captain, they would come to Curacao for a Conference. He shared, “This was something that I could not imagine happening so quickly after deciding to become a VIP in the DHS Club!”
More great experiences followed by meeting Chief Executive Directors, Gino Descamps and Rens Van Houte in person at subsequent conferences held in Curacao.
Charles says, “Following the Yellow Brick Road is a major key to becoming successful. Also, meeting the person who gave us the possibility to work and to live the dream we all have, Mr. Dick Burke. It is great to work with people who motivate you. Even in times when you are discouraged, the basic is ALWAYS keep the E-Business Institute Courses as the main focus and most important tool. That way, everyone can be successful with the DHS Club and live the life you have always dreamed of.”
He further shared, “It’s great to be part of the DHS Club TEAM working toward a dream we all share. That’s one of the basics of success, I think. Along with determination, believing in yourself and the people around you, and keeping focused on the big picture. With the E-Business Institute and the DHS Club culture, I am sure that nothing can go wrong!”
Charles’ goals are to become a 6 Star Ambassador’s Club Chief Executive Director. He looks forward to enjoying life while sharing and spending wonderful times with all the current and future leaders on the DHS Club TEAM in the world and living the Dream.
Franco Manieri - Metallic Cleaning, Piossasco, Torino, Italy - Franco Manieri lives in Piossasco, Torino, Italy. He is 26 years old and had worked in metallic cleaning firm for 5 years before becoming a DHS Club Executive Director. For some time, he looked for an opportunity that would provide him with some extra money at the end of each month. Fortunately, he heard about the DHS Club business opportunity from his good friend, Executive Director, Giuseppe Francavilla. Franco joined the DHS Club as an Associate Member and upgraded to VIP five days later.
Franco said, "I am happy to announce you that I recently achieved Executive Director! This achievement and the results have been the most gratifying and surprising experience of my life! It took me some time to build my organization and I faced many obstacles along the way. I received many negative comments, the same as I am sure many VIPs receive, but I succeeded with time and persistence."
"My Team Coach, Giuseppe Francavilla, and I encouraged each other along the way. We are a remarkable team and we have always had the great support of our upline Executive Director, Fabrizio Perotti. Together, we have succeeded to surpass the more difficult moments and the negative comments that, of course, all eventually proved to be incorrect. I must admit that I was surprised in the beginning when I began to see the good results coming from my efforts. I did not think for a moment of the larger things to come. I put my enthusiasm into 'working the plan' and did not leave the results to luck alone."
"I am committed, I am steadfast, and my willingness to learn never fails. My determination and beliefs are strong and will carry me all the way to my ultimate goals and dreams!"
Jan Braham - IT consultant, Meppel, The Netherlands - Jan Braham lives in Meppel, The Netherlands.
Jan had been searching on the Internet for a stable business, when he discovered the DHS Club. He signed up as an Associate Member immediately, and very shortly after, upgraded to become a VIP.
Jan said he thought the idea of the business was the best he had seen, "I thought, what's the best product to sell? The things that families and businesses already spend money on every day, while helping them to get a discount and so I can earn a Referral Commission."
Jan attributes his success to the help of his Sponsor and the e-Business Institute Training program, which he started right away. He shared, "Soon after I got started with the training, in the evening I started calling some old friends to start giving away memberships and building my organization. After following the training for 13 months, I qualified as an Executive Director."
Jan's goal now is to qualify as an Ambassador's Club Member and be able to travel the world in style, helping others to build their DHSC Glocal Income Businesses. He states, "Your lifestyle begins to change for the better when you qualify as an Executive Director. And my dream of visiting many countries in the world is much closer! I don't believe in waiting to make things happen. Let's build an organization now and be ready for the the great things to come! Only you, can make your life different!"
Roberto Spanicciati - freelance entrepreneur, Rome, Italy - Roberto Spanicciati is a freelance entrepreneur, who lives in Rome, Italy. As many others have done, Roberto found The DHS Club while surfing on the Internet, looking for ways to work from home. He found an ad that described having a home based DHS Club business and signed up for a free Associate Membership.
Roberto shares, "I started to get information about the Club and what excited me the most was the market in which it operates. The possibility to save and earn while buying on-line or off-line. The way I see it, we are all consumers, so I immediately thought about the dimensions of the market that we have access to and the business that could be created."
When asked about why he decided to join the DHS Club, Roberto responded "After a few days of evaluation, I subscribed as VIP on October 9, 2006. Since there was a guarantee that you are "satisfied or money back", I had nothing to lose."
He added, "Thanks to the team work and the support I was given, I started to commit seriously to learning how to build this business, steadily growing month after month, to reach my short term goals, without losing sight of where I wanted to be. Even in the moments that things appeared difficult, I realized that there are ups and downs in life and kept moving on!"
Roberto states that, "All VIP’s should have the highest commitment to reach their first major goal - Executive Director. I reached Executive Director on May 31, 2008, 19 months after I joined as a VIP. Surely, it wasn’t easy, but it was worth it and I am everyday more convinced that when you want to reach a goal, and you really want it, nothing is impossible."
We asked Roberto about his goals for the future and he replied, "Now my objective is to help the committed VIP’s on my team to meet their own goals. And for myself, to get to my final objective, which is AMBASSADOR CLUB!!!! And then to realize some private dreams and aspirations that until now, have been hidden in my drawer."
"Always believe and never give up!"
